Finnish Biobanks – FINBB

The mission of Finnish Biobank Cooperative –FINBB is to enhance the competitiveness of Finnish health and biomedical research by providing researchers a centralized access to collections and services of the Finnish biobanks and their background organizations. FINBB’s activities create value for its members and owners by providing services at the national level.

FINBB is a cooperative owned by six largest hospital districts and universities in Finland, and the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL). FINBB has eight member biobanks.

Since January 2020, FINBB has been the national coordinator of the European biobanking network BBMRI-ERIC. All eleven Finnish biobanks are involved in the network activities.

KAMK University of Applied Sciences

Kajaani University of Applied Sciences (KAMK) is a proactive and international university in central Finland with the vision of being a small but big university of applied sciences. KAMK has approximately 3,300 students and 300 members of staff and offers a number of Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. KAMK is actively involved in the development of companies and organizations operating in the regions of Kainuu, Koillismaa and Northern Ostrobothnia.

Kuopio Health

Kuopio Health is an ever-growing, international community of entrepreneurs, seasoned business professionals, educational, medical and governmental experts who are dedicated to working together towards discovering and accelerating relevant ideas based on pressing human needs and ultimately transforming them into viable commercial applications. In addition to Kuopio Health, Kuopio brings in the services of DigiCenter North Savo through subcontracting, in the areas of artificial intelligence, 5G/NB-IoT, and usability testing. DigiCenter North Savo is operated by Savonia University of Applied Sciences and University of Eastern Finland, who are approved subcontractor organizations in the project.

Varha – The wellbeing services county of Southwest Finland

Varha is responsible for organizing social and health services and rescue operations from January 1, 2023. The county is made up of 27 municipalities, a hospital district, special care services and rescue services.

The purpose of the public healthcare system is to offer every citizen the best possible treatment with reasonable costs to society. Advances in medicine enable the application of new, more effective treatments. A wealth of scientifically proven data is required to support optimal treatment choices for each patient. In addition, data-driven management and planning help target the focus of healthcare professionals to the right issues.

Auria Clinical Informatics supports scientific research and data-driven management based on patient records in specialized healthcare. At present, we support research, management, treatment planning and sustainable choices based on local patient records and in the future our coverage extends also national and European records.
